Somehow we are already a few day’s into August. Started
this month out with a wedding. Always nice to have something to celebrate.
Let’s see how July’s goals went:
Let’s see how July’s goals went:
- Ride or run with someone new – Yep, did a ride
with a bunch of new people. Always nice to meet a new crowd.
- Ride or run a new route – Big fat check! Did a
completely new route from my house heading east for once. Thanks Strava heatmap
for helping me plot it. Ran near Seattle airport and from the gym (boring).
- Complete a speed work out as I originally
planned it (not as I modified it during the run) – Although I did modify it
during the run I modified it to go faster because my heart rate was too low which
I take as a positive so we’ll say check.
- Spend my Alaska cruise enjoying quality time
with my family and don’t get caught up in training for just this one week – I
think I accomplished this. I didn’t freak out that I couldn’t use the spin
bikes or the “endless pool”. I didn’t care when I got my workouts in, just that
I did them and got key workouts in some time during the week.
- Don’t over eat on the cruise (hardest goal of
all!) – HAHAHA well this one was a joke to begin with since I knew I’d probably
fail. To say I fail would be an understatement but I will say I could have been
worse believe it or not (and my family would probably be wondering how I
possibility could have been worse).
- Decide if I’ll do White Lake International or
Half – CHECK! Half, here I come!
So overall a pretty successful month expect for the food
category. I will say after the cruise my mind did seem to flip the switch back
to eating healthy. I’m not sure if the cruise was sugar and food overload and
that’s what caused the change or if it was my realization that I’m going into
race season and would rather not be lugging those extra pounds around. Either
way I’m back to where I was pre-cruise and feeling healthier.
Going into August (ok I guess we are already in August)
I’m prepared for changes. I’ve officially passed my training schedule over to
Katie and it honestly feels good. Race season is officially kicking off for me
starting with Lake Logan International this weekend. This will be my first
international distance triathlon. It was my original A race for the season
before deciding to do the half so now this is more like a race to prepare for
my half.
This month will also bring lots of family time, both my
family and my husbands. Although training and races are very important to me,
I’m ready to toss it all out the window when it comes to family. Unfortunately,
this will not be a happy month for me. In fact today is my birthday and I don’t
even really want to acknowledge it, let alone celebrate it.
I have no goals for this month. Right now it’s about
taking life one day at a time. Right now it’s about trying to not focus so much
on the future but instead live life one day at a time.
Swam: Don’t remember
Rode: Doesn’t matter
Ran: Whatever was on my schedule
Strength training: Whatever my coach said
Total hours: Passing off control means letting
go of numbers… I’m trying
